Checkout Links for Shopify Automation

Shopify Flow is the workhorse for commerce automation: triggers on orders, customers, inventory, refunds, and more. What Flow doesn't natively do is generate the perfect per-recipient link — the one with the right products, the right discount, the right customer pre-fill — to drop into the email or SMS that actually closes the loop.

Checkout Links plugs into Flow with native actions and a curated library of 14 templates that ship the most common patterns ready to run.

What you get

  • Native Flow actions. "Use dynamic link" and "Send Checkout Link" actions appear in the Flow action palette. Drop them into any workflow.
  • 14 ready-made templates. Pre-built .flow files for the high-volume commerce automations. Install with a click, configure the segment/trigger, ship.
  • Partner-app integrations. Templates for Swym (wishlist → restock-alert with cart link) and Stoq (restock signal → trigger the link).
  • Per-link analytics. Every link generated by a Flow run lands in the Checkout Links analytics dashboard with per-trigger attribution.

The 14 template categories

Each template ships as a downloadable .flow file you install into your Shopify Flow. High-level categories:

  • Abandoned cart recovery. Trigger on cart_abandoned, generate a recovery Checkout Link with the original cart pre-loaded, dispatch via Klaviyo or Shopify Email.
  • Post-purchase reorder. Trigger N days after order, generate a reorder link with the same SKUs, send.
  • Win-back lapsed customers. Trigger when a customer hasn't ordered in 60/90/180 days, generate a Checkout Link with their most-loved past SKU + return-customer discount.
  • VIP-tier triggered drops. Trigger when a customer crosses a VIP threshold (lifetime spend, order count), generate a passcoded link to a VIP-only product.
  • Restock alerts. Trigger when an out-of-stock SKU restocks, generate a Checkout Link pre-loaded with that SKU for waitlist subscribers.
  • B2B reorder cadences. Trigger N days after a wholesale order, generate the standing-order link for that account.
  • Lapsed-subscriber recovery. Trigger when a subscription is cancelled or fails, generate a reactivation link with the original selling plan.
  • First-order welcome. Trigger on first order placed, dispatch a Checkout Link for a complementary product.

Plus partner-app templates with Swym and Stoq.

Why automation needs the link layer

A Flow without Checkout Links can do a lot — segment customers, send emails, tag, update inventory. What it can't do natively is hand off the customer to a specific cart with a specific discount and their identity already known. Without that, your automated flows still end with a generic "browse our site" CTA — which is most of where the conversion gets lost.

Adding the link layer transforms the funnel:

  • Abandoned cart Flow with no link: customer gets an email, lands on cart page, clicks through to checkout, types discount code. Multi-step.
  • Abandoned cart Flow with Checkout Link: customer gets an email, taps the link, lands on checkout with cart + discount pre-loaded. One step.

Across our customers' Flow automations, the per-step drop-off this collapses is the biggest single lever in the funnel.
