Link templates

Save a link's settings as a reusable blueprint, then spin up new links from it without rebuilding promotions, popups and rules each time.

A template is a link you keep as a starting point rather than share. Build the cart, promotions, popup and rules once, save it as a template, and every new link made from it starts with all of that already in place.

Where templates live

Templates have their own Templates tab on the Links page. They only appear there — they’re hidden from All, Dynamic, Active and Draft, so your normal link list stays uncluttered.

The Templates tab drops the Clicks, Orders, Conversion and Sales columns, because a template is never used by a customer and has nothing to report.

Creating a template

Two ways, and they both leave your existing links alone.

From scratch — click Create template next to Create link on the Links page. You get the editor with nothing filled in.

From a link you already have — click Save as template on any link in the list. This copies that link into a new template named <link name> template, and opens it. The original link is untouched and keeps working exactly as before.

In the Templates tab, click Create link from template on the template you want. A new link is created with every setting copied across, and the editor opens on it.

That row action is the only way to use a template — the normal Create link flow doesn’t offer a template picker.

The new link is active straight away. It’s live from the moment you create it, whatever state the template is in, so give it a name and a URL before you share it.

What carries over, and what doesn’t

Copied from the template:

  • The cart, including quantities, per-product discounts and purchase options
  • Promotions
  • The popup and everything in it
  • Passcode, require login, schedule, usage limits
  • Order tags, attribution and UTM parameters, scripts
  • Destination and path, link preview, QR code style

Made fresh for the new link:

  • Shortcode — a new random one, and the URL is built from it
  • Link — the URL ends with that new shortcode, so no two links from a template collide
  • Name — the template’s name is used as-is, so rename it if you’re making several
  • Analytics — clicks, orders and sales start from zero

A template is a starting point, not a parent

This is the part worth being clear about: once a link is created, it has no connection to the template it came from.

Editing a template later changes nothing about links already made from it. There’s also no list of which links came from which template. If you fix a mistake in a template, the links you already created keep the old setting and need updating themselves.

Plan around it by getting a template right before you make links in bulk from it.

Customers can’t open a template

A template has no shareable URL. It never gets one, it isn’t published, and if someone somehow reaches its address they’re sent to your store’s home page instead.

That’s also why the template editor hides the URL and analytics sections, and why the QR code shows its style options but no downloadable code — the code is generated on each link you create, not on the template.

Deleting a template

Delete a template from its row in the Templates tab. Links already created from it are unaffected and keep working.

Tips

  • Make a template for each campaign shape you repeat — influencer gifting, a seasonal sale, a reorder offer — rather than duplicating last month’s link and editing around it.
  • Rename each new link as you create it. They all arrive with the template’s name, which gets confusing fast in a long list.
  • Get the template right first. Since changes don’t reach links you’ve already made, it’s cheaper to fix the blueprint before a batch than after.
