The Countdown block is optional, and only one Countdown can be added per page. It looks like a Callout with a ticking clock inside the text.
Settings
Minutes
- Minutes — How long the timer runs, from 1 to 1,440 (one day). Defaults to 10.
Text
-
Text — A rich text editor for your message. Supports formatting like bold, italic, links, and lists.
-
{{ timer }} — Shows the time remaining, like
9:59. Type it yourself or pick Time remaining from the variable picker in the editor’s toolbar. You can use customer variables like{{ first_name }}in the same text.
A new Countdown block starts with “This offer ends in {{ timer }}”.
Style
Choose a color scheme from seven presets:
-
Default — Subtle, neutral grey
-
Red — Urgency or warnings
-
Orange — Attention-grabbing announcements. A new Countdown block starts with this one.
-
Purple — Premium or special offers
-
Green — Success messages or eco-friendly promotions
-
Blue — Informational messages
-
Custom — Pick your own background, text, and border colors using color pickers
Border
-
Border — Toggle the border on or off. On by default.
-
Dotted border — Switch from a solid border to a dotted one. Only appears when the border is turned on.
How it behaves
-
The timer starts when the shopper opens the popup.
-
Reloading the page does not reset it. The clock carries on from where it was.
-
When the timer reaches zero, the popup closes and the shopper is sent to your store’s home page.
-
Opening the link again after the timer has run out starts a fresh countdown.
-
The timer still runs if you leave
{{ timer }}out of the text. Shoppers just won’t see the clock, so keep it in. -
The preview in the editor shows the full time and does not tick.
The countdown only closes the popup. It does not switch off the link or its discounts. To stop a link working after a date, use Schedule instead.
Tips
-
Place the Countdown near the top of the page so shoppers see the deadline before they start browsing.
-
Give shoppers enough time to choose. Ten to fifteen minutes suits most offers; a popup with many upsells needs more.
-
Keep the message short — “Your offer is reserved for {{ timer }}” works better than a paragraph.
