Every LinkShop starts out at a default address on your store’s domain. A custom URL lets you replace the default path with something short you can say out loud and put in a bio — for example yourstore.com/bio or yourstore.com/shop.
What It Does
Your LinkShop always lives on your store’s own domain. By default the address is:
https://yourstore.com/a/linkshop
A custom URL adds a shortcut on the same domain. When you set the slug bio, visitors can open yourstore.com/bio and land on your LinkShop. The default address keeps working too, so nothing you have already shared breaks when you add a custom URL.
Because the shortcut lives on your store’s domain, there is nothing to set up outside Shopify: no DNS records, no extra domain, no waiting. If your store uses a custom domain, your LinkShop uses it as well.
Setting a Custom URL
You can set the URL from the dashboard or from Settings.
From the dashboard:
- Open LinkShop in your Shopify admin
- In the Your LinkShop URL card, click Edit URL
- Confirm you want to edit — changing the URL breaks links you have already shared
- Type the path you want after the slash, for example bio
- Click Save
From Settings:
- Go to Settings > Custom URL
- Enter your path in the URL slug field
- Click Save
The field shows the full address as you type, so you can see exactly what visitors will use.
Rules for the Slug
- Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens only. Spaces become hyphens and other characters are removed.
- At least 2 characters.
- Some paths are reserved by Shopify and can’t be used:
checkout,cart,account,login,register,search,collections,products,pages,blogs,admin,orders,gift_cards,password,policies,appsanda. - A path already used by another redirect in your store can’t be used either. Pick a different one, or remove the existing redirect under Online Store > Navigation > URL redirects in your Shopify admin.
Changing or Removing the URL
Changing the slug moves the shortcut — the old path stops working immediately, so update it anywhere you have shared it. The default /a/linkshop address is never affected.
To remove the custom URL, go to Settings > Custom URL and click Remove custom URL. Your LinkShop goes back to the default address.
Tips
- Keep it short and easy to spell: bio, shop and links all work well when read aloud or typed on a phone.
- Set the URL before you share your LinkShop anywhere. Changing it later means updating every profile where you pasted it.
- Use Copy URL on the dashboard to copy the exact address, then paste it into your Instagram, TikTok or YouTube profile.
