When someone pastes your LinkShop link into a chat or a post, the app shows a card with a title, a short description and an image. The share preview is where you choose what that card says.
What It Does
WhatsApp, iMessage, X, Slack, Facebook and most other apps read the card from your page. The share preview sets three things:
- Title — The card’s heading. It’s also the title of the browser tab when someone opens your page
- Description — A line of text under the title
- Share image — The picture on the card. 1200 × 630 pixels works best
Any field you leave empty uses your Header block instead: its title, its description, and its logo (or the Hero image, if your header uses one). So a page that never touched these settings still shares a sensible card. The empty fields show what they’ll use.
Under the fields, a preview shows roughly how the card will look.
How to Set It Up
- Open your LinkShop in the Shopify admin and click Edit LinkShop
- Open Settings, then Share preview
- Enter a Title and Description, or leave them empty to use your header’s
- Click Share image and pick or upload an image
- Check the preview, then click Save
Troubleshooting
A link I already shared still shows the old card. Chat apps keep a copy of a card for a while, so a link that was shared before your change can show the old one until the app checks again. For Facebook and Messenger, paste your link into Facebook’s Sharing Debugger and click Scrape Again to refresh it.
The card shows no image. Pick a Share image, or add your own logo to your Header block. The placeholder avatar a new page starts with can’t be used on a card.
No card appears at all. If your store is password-protected, chat apps can’t get past the password page, so they show no card. This is normal on development stores, see Development and Sandbox stores. The card appears once the store is open.
Tips
- Write the title for someone who doesn’t know you yet: your store name and what you sell
- Use an image with your products or brand in the middle. Some apps crop the edges
- Change the card when you run a campaign, so the link you post matches the offer
