LinkShop can apply one or more of your Shopify discount codes to every visitor’s cart automatically. Visitors never type a code — the discount is already there when they open their cart and check out.
What It Does
When a visitor adds their first product on your LinkShop page, a cart is created for them with the discount codes from your Discounts settings already attached. Shopify checks each code the same way it would at checkout: codes that apply are shown in the cart as small tags under the total, and the discounted amount is reflected in the cart total and at checkout. Codes that don’t apply to the cart — expired, wrong products, minimum not met — are simply not shown.
LinkShop doesn’t create discounts. It applies codes that already exist in your Shopify admin under Discounts, so everything you set there still counts: start and end dates, usage limits, minimum purchase, which products or collections the code covers, and whether it can be combined with other discounts.
Settings
- Discounts — One or more discount codes, separated by commas, for example
SALE10,SUMMER20. Every code in the list is added to each new cart
You’ll find this in the Discounts tab of the editor, next to Branding, Layout and Typography.
How to Add a Discount
- In your Shopify admin, go to Discounts and create a discount code if you don’t have one yet
- Open your LinkShop in the Shopify admin
- Open the Discounts tab
- Enter your code in the Discounts field. To use several, separate them with commas
- Click Save
Other Ways Discounts Get Applied
- Email Collection block — turn on Discount in the block’s settings and enter a code. It’s applied to the visitor’s cart when they subscribe, on top of any codes from the Discounts tab. See Email Collection Block
- Alia popups — when a visitor claims a reward in an Alia popup on your page, the reward’s discount code is added to their cart too. See Alia
- Sale prices — if a product has a compare-at price in Shopify, LinkShop shows the original price crossed out next to the sale price on product blocks, in the product sheet and in the cart. That’s a price set on the product, not a discount code, and it needs no setup in LinkShop
Tips
- Use one page-wide code for a channel-specific offer — for example a code that only your Instagram followers get, since they’re the ones landing on your LinkShop
- If a code doesn’t show up in the cart, check it in your Shopify admin first: it may have expired, hit its usage limit, or only apply to products that aren’t in the cart yet
- Automatic discounts set up in Shopify (the ones without a code) apply at checkout as usual; you don’t need to add anything to LinkShop for those
- Keep the list short. Shopify decides which codes can be combined, so several overlapping codes can leave visitors with a different total than you expect
