Storefront links

Set up the storefront app embed

Turn on the theme app embed so discounts, free gifts and progress messages appear in your cart.

The app embed lets Checkout Links show what’s happening inside your store’s cart — discount badges on each line, free gifts that appear when they’re earned, and progress messages toward the next reward.

Storefront links work without it. The discounts still apply and the customer is still charged correctly. What you lose without it is the explanation: the customer sees a lower price but nothing telling them why, and a free gift can’t be added or removed as their cart changes.

Turn it on

  1. In the link editor, choose Storefront as the destination.
  2. If the embed isn’t active yet, Checkout Links shows a prompt with a link to your theme editor.
  3. Click it, and the Checkout Links app embed opens in your theme settings.
  4. Switch it on and click Save.

You can also reach it from Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds.

You only need to do this once per theme. If you switch themes or install a new one, turn it on again in the new theme.

What it adds

  • Discount badges. Each discounted line in the cart shows what was applied, so the lower price is explained.
  • Free gifts that keep up. Once a gift’s threshold is reached, a claim button appears so the customer can add it to their cart. If the cart later drops back below the threshold the gift stays put, but it’s no longer discounted, so the customer sees its real price. Without the embed, threshold gifts can’t work correctly on a storefront link.
  • Progress messages. “Spend $20 more for free shipping”, so customers know what they’re working toward.

Tips

  • Turn it on before sending your first storefront link, not after.
  • Check it in your live theme, not a duplicate — the embed is per-theme.
  • If badges don’t appear, confirm the embed is on in the theme that’s actually published.
