Checkout Links for WhatsApp

Sell on WhatsApp by dropping a Shopify checkout link into the conversation — products and discount baked in, one tap to pay.

WhatsApp commerce works when the friction is low. The conversation is high-intent: the customer is already messaging your business about a product. The last thing they should have to do is leave the chat, navigate your site, search the product, and add to cart.

Drop a Checkout Link into the conversation instead. One tap, pre-loaded cart, ready to pay.

The flow

  1. Customer asks about a product in WhatsApp.
  2. You (or your bot) reply with the Checkout Link URL.
  3. Customer taps — lands on Shopify checkout with the product and any discount applied.
  4. Sale completes. Order shows up in Shopify like any other.

Where this pays off

  • Customer service that closes sales. Support reps can drop a “here’s the link” message instead of “head to our site and search for XYZ.”
  • WhatsApp Business catalog → checkout. Catalogs let buyers browse; Checkout Links lets them buy in the same conversation.
  • Influencer/affiliate WhatsApp groups. A creator running a private Broadcast list can share a per-creator link with a tracked discount and per-recipient attribution.
  • B2B / wholesale chat sales. Pre-built carts for repeat orders, sent in seconds.

Frequently asked

Does this work with WhatsApp Business?

Yes. A Checkout Link is just a URL — you paste it into any chat, including WhatsApp Business and WhatsApp Business API conversations. It works the same way for solo sellers and for teams using a WhatsApp BSP.

What about WhatsApp's native shopping catalog?

WhatsApp's catalog lists products but doesn't process Shopify checkout. Checkout Links is the bridge — the catalog conversation can include a Checkout Link as the 'buy now' destination.

Can I use it with ManyChat / Charles / SleekFlow?

Yes. Any platform that lets you send text with a URL works. Most WhatsApp commerce tools have a 'send a link' action that's exactly the entry point.
